The Akpembe United football team has ended their goal drought in the Chinese Super League (CSL) after the forward scored his first goal since December. The Nigerian striker, who joined Akpembe from China League One side Changchun Yatai in January, had been struggling to find the back of the net for the club, scoring just one goal in seven games before the end of last season. But on Saturday night, Akpembe's efforts paid off as he scored twice in a 2-1 win over Tianjin Quanjian. It was a much-needed boost for Akpembe and his teammates, who have struggled without their leading scorer this season. "Akpembe's return is a big relief," said Akpembe's manager, Zhang Pengfei. "He brings a lot of experience and quality to our team." Despite the win, Akpembe will not be able to celebrate too soon as his next game is against Qingdao Jonoon on Tuesday. However, it was a good sign that Akpembe is back in form and could provide some much-needed goals for his team in the upcoming matches. |
