Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette has confirmed that he will remain with Lyon next season as the club looks to challenge for the Ligue 1 title. In an interview with RMC Sport, Lacazette said: "I'm very happy to have extended my contract with Lyon. I want to stay and help the team fight for the championship." The France international scored 25 goals in all competitions last season as Lyon finished second in the league table, six points behind leaders Paris Saint-Germain. Lacazette's decision to extend his stay at the Parc OL comes after a difficult period for the club under new coach Paul Le Guen. However, the forward is confident that the club can bounce back and challenge for the title this season. "I think we're ready to be competitive again," Lacazette added. "We've got some good players here who can score goals and create chances." Despite being linked with moves away from Lyon in recent weeks, Lacazette says he is committed to helping the club achieve their goals. "I want to play in Europe and win titles," he said. "That's why I'm staying here." Lyon face a tough battle in the upcoming campaign, with top teams such as PSG, Monaco and Nice set to pose a threat. But Lacazette believes that the club's talented squad, led by star striker Memphis Depay, can overcome any obstacles on the road to success. "Everyone knows how talented our players are," he said. "We just need to work together and keep pushing towards our goals." |
