Monaco has continued its strong start to the season, securing a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Nantes in round two of the Ligue 1 competition. The match saw both sides battling for control from the opening whistle, with Monaco making the most of their early dominance. However, it was Nantes who broke the deadlock on the half-hour mark, with a well-taken goal from midfielder Yoann Gourcuff. Monaco responded quickly, however, and equalized just before the break thanks to a goal from striker Florian Thauvin. The game remained level at the interval as both teams sought to gain the upper hand. In the second half, Monaco began to dominate possession and create more chances, with Thauvin once again proving his worth. He scored the winner for Monaco just after the hour mark, giving the home side a crucial lead going into the final 15 minutes. Nantes fought back bravely, though, and were given a lifeline when goalkeeper Steve Mandanda made a mistake that allowed defender Jean-Baptiste Breguet to score. Despite this, Monaco held on for a hard-fought win, securing all three points and extending their unbeaten run to four games. For Ben Yedder, it was another impressive performance, continuing his recent form of scoring goals for Monaco. The French striker was involved in all three of Monaco's goals against Nantes, with his late strike ensuring that he extended his goal-scoring streak to five matches. Overall, it was a solid performance by Monaco, who have now won their first two matches of the season. They will be hoping to continue their winning ways as they look to maintain their position at the top of the table. |
